Overnight search for missing person at Brean ends successfully
Rescue crews from Burnham-On-Sea have been involved in an overnight search at Brean for a missing person.
Coastguards from Burnham and Weston, plus crewmembers from BARB Search & Rescue, were called out at 10.30pm last night (Thursday) to find the 42-year-old man, who was reported to be in a distressed state.
Over 20 crewmembers carried out a torch-lit foot search of the beach, Brean Down and the surrounding area.
A police helicopter was also called in to conduct an overhead search before the man was successsfully found.
“The concerned family of the man contacted the police to help the search and the Coastguards and BARB then carried out a thorough search and found the man in the darkness on Brean beach,” said Coastguard Officer in Charge Stuart Browning.
“Having the extra resources from Weston and BARB were essential, helping us cover a wider search area and find the missing person faster.”
