Minute’s silence held in memory of Burnham and Highbridge Mayor

-

Town councillors bowed their heads during a minute’s silence at the start of their meeting last night (Monday) in memory of a former Burnham and Highbridge Mayor who has died.

Brenda Brown, who served as Mayor from 1994 to 1995, passed away after a short illness, as reported here.

During Monday’s council meeting, Cllr Neville Jones recounted how Brenda had served as a dedicated town councillor for eight years and a district councillor for four years.

During her term as Mayor a number of projects came to fruition including the move of the Town Council to Jaycroft Road, the refurbishment of The Princess, the completion of Highbridge Commnunity Centre, the Oxford Street car park and the go-ahead for the Brent Road cemetry.

Her funeral will be held this Wednesday at 12.45pm at Weston Crematorium.
