In photos: Burnham lifeguard digs stranded man out of beach mud
A lifeguard dug a man out of the mud after he became stuck on Burnham-On-Sea’s beach on Saturday (August 29th).
Lifeguard Simon Wresien, pictured below, rushed to free the stranded holidaymaker from a patch of mud between Burnham’s jetty and Pavilion at 1pm.
Simon told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The man had ignored the red flags and walked out towards the sea at low tide. We spotted him sink knee-deep into the mud and were quickly on hand to help.”
Simon added: “I went as close as possible in our beach buggy and then dug him out with my hands.”
“The man, a holidaymaker from Birmingham, was shaken and rather embarrassed but fortunately it was only his pride that was hurt.”
