Burnham-On-Sea youth club receives funding boost from council
A youth club in Burnham-On-Sea has received a financial boost of more than £3,400 from the county council.
Over a dozen Somerset youth clubs have been boosted with grant funding from Somerset County Council.
Fourteen youth clubs from across the county will receive a share of £35,000 to help run popular sessions for young people.
The County Council grants are matched by over £81,000 in locally raised funding and hundreds of hours in volunteers’ time – all for the benefit of Somerset’s young people.
In Burnham, £3,484 has been given to Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge Town Council towards staffing costs to continue their weekly youth club, which takes place after school on Tuesdays at the town’s BAY Club.
Cllr Frances Nicholson, Somerset County Council’s Cabinet Member for Children and Families, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “I am pleased that we have been able to support our communities with these grants, which are a top-up to the funds they have already worked hard to raise locally.”
“Many of these projects are heavily reliant on the generosity and dedication of volunteers. I’d like to thank them for everything they do, and I hope the grant funding helps ensure these projects continue benefiting the young people of Somerset in the future.”
Each of the projects bid for the grants and met certain criteria. Each application was assessed by a grant panel against the criteria and the value for money offered by the proposal. More information and application forms are online here.
