On Wednesday evening Terry, one time Archbishop’s envoy to the Middle East, will speak at St Andrew’s Church in Burnham.
“With all the modern issues around migrants and refugees, he will have much to say about the context of the present situation in the light of its historic situation,” says the Vicar of St Andrew’s Church, Rev’d Graham Witts.
“It will be a wonderful evening to hear from someone who was and is intimately concerned for the Middle East.”
“Terry will be speaking about his own experience and the modern situation what we see daily on our screens and in the papers.”
The evening, which is free, starts at 7.30pm and during the interval there will be a chance to buy a copy of Terry’s latest book and have it signed by the author.
There will also be a chance for local residents to join the ‘Friends of St Andrew’s Scheme’ to support the maintenance of this historic building.
There will be a retiring collection for St Andrew’s Church and Hostage UK, a charity of which Terry Waite is a patron.
On Thursday morning, the Bishop of Bath & Wells, the Rt. Revd Peter Hancock will conduct a special service of Holy Communion to mark the 700th anniversary of the church and all that is good in the life of the present congregation, including a collection for a refugee camp in Calais.
If you were at Folk in the Park last Sunday you will have witnessed the Assistant Curate, the Revd Sharon Eldergill, enjoying the brilliant events there.
