Burnham-On-Sea town centre plans for Christmas ‘Frostival’ unveiled

-

Burnham-On-Sea’s Town Council will be helping to make the town centre more festive this year by offering a free LED lantern to businesses and households – and promoting Christmas events under a ‘Frostival’ theme.

The LED lanterns will be given to shops and businesses in the town centre to be placed in their front windows over the Christmas period in a bid to make Burnham more festive.

The council is also planning to promote Christmas across Burnham as a ‘Frostival’ this year and to publish a leaflet featuring the dates and times of festive events such as public fairs, concerts and grottos.

The festive celebrations begin with Burnham’s Christmas lights switch-on on Saturday 21st November, organised by the Chamber of Trade.

A wide range of street entertainment is being planned for every weekend in the run-up to Christmas, including giant roller skating baubles, brass bands, lost elves, carollers, stilt walkers and several other surprises too.

“This is a simple plan to bring all the town centre together over the festive period by lighting up the hundreds of windows; on the main streets but also on the side streets too. I hope that everyone will say yes to being a part of lighting up the town every evening,” said Town Centre Manager Bev Milner Simonds.

“Many event organisers have sent in their plans for the season already and a great calendar of concerts, fairs and services is planned. If you have a booking for a venue, a concert or a public party planned please do let me know so it can be publicised as widely as possible.”

She added: “We have had a great response to the lanterns with many businesses and residents signing up within hours of getting the letters. We want to get the Frostival guide out to residents and to the surrounding towns and villages to encourage people to spend time locally this Christmas.”

If you have plans to hold any public Christmas events, contact Beverley at bostowncentremanager@gmail.com with the following details: What is planned, where it will be held, when it will be open/happening (dates/times), any entry costs, a brief description and contact details for the organiser.
