Burnham-On-Sea school pupils have stories published in new book

-

Talented young wordsmiths from Burnham-On-Sea’s St Andrew’s School have had their work published in a new book.

Short stories written by the children, pictured here, have been chosen in a nationwide creative story-writing competition.

The contest, called ‘Toy Story’, challenged the children to write a mini-saga of no more than 100 words about what toys do when no adults around.

St Andrew’s sent off the pupils’ work to Young Writers, the national organisation behind the competition.

And those lucky enough to have their work chosen will be able to see their stories published in the Somerset and Dorset edition of ‘Toy Stories’, in which St Andrew’s is one of only three schools in Somerset to be featured.

Jim Gillard, St Andrew’s class teacher, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “There is great excitement among our young writers for this book.”

“Seeing the children’s faces upon learning that their writing would be published was fantastic and they love their books.”
