Highbridge Enterprise Centre is gearing up to showcase its facilities in an Open Day on Friday 25 September.
The Centre opened in March 2015 as the latest and fifth business hub from Somerset County Council, managed by South West Business Centres.
It champions high-growth enterprises and investment, inspiring new business to put down roots or growing businesses to start their next chapter in Somerset.
One session will begin at 8:30am and the other session at 12:30pm to give everyone the opportunity to attend the event. During the sessions businesses will have the chance to meet staff and companies based at the Centre and hear about what it has to offer local enterprise.
Among the sectors represented at the Centre are physical fitness and mental health through to digital marketing and dredging. The majority of the companies are new businesses or start ups, who have taken up the industrial units, offices and the hot desks available at the hub.
Highbridge Enterprise Centre was developed with funding from Central Government as part of the Heart of the South West Local Enterprise Partnership Rural Growth Network.
Cllr David Hall, Somerset County Council’s Cabinet Member for Business and Inward Investment, said: “Highbridge Enterprise Centre has continued to go from strength-to-strength since opening nearly six months ago. Several businesses are benefitting from what it and Somerset has to offer – like-minded individuals, informed business insight, and the ambition to drive our county forward.

Jakki MacPhail, Highbridge Enterprise Centre Manager, said: “Having such a range of businesses in the Centre is great as they all offer different services and expertise. Now that we have a number of businesses here they are often becoming clients of each other. Quite often we find there is a link between what one tenant can do for another during the infancy of their business.”
The vibrant business environment benefits from free business advice, tailored workshops and a dedicated superfast broadband line, which enables local businesses to use the first class facilities and receive support.
Paul Costigan, Managing Director of Smalls Dredging, said: “The office is local to me and ideally located on the M5. The inclusion of business advice from a South West Business Centre advisor is a real plus and I have already benefitted from training on the video conferencing facility. This will enable me to communicate face to face with my partnership company based in Amsterdam without the cost and time it would take to travel.
“I have met some useful contacts at the Centre already and connected with tenants that specialise in marketing and media. Networking with other businesses will help me develop my new company in the future.”
Stuart Grantham of Webtake UK said: “We have three suppliers in Europe that we communicate with on a regular basis. The excellent fibre optic speeds at the Centre allow us to complete large file transfers efficiently. As a business which is looking to expand we will be using the business advisor to help grow our business and employ more people.”
