Inquest today into Dylan Cecil jetty tragedy in Burnham-On-Sea

-

West Somerset’s coroner will today hold an inquest hearing into the tragic death of a toddler who fell into the sea from Burnham-On-Sea’s jetty last summer.

Four year-old Dylan Cecil drowned after falling into Bridgwater Bay on August 19th.

The youngster, from Kettering, disappeared from view while members of his family were enjoying a day in the town.

His parents, Rachel McCollum and Darren Cecil, attempted to save their son, while emergency services from the Coastguard, RNLI and BARB launched a search and rescue operation.

His body was found washed up on the beach near Burnham-On-Sea Sailing Club four days later.

Coroner Michael Rose will hold the inquest hearing in Taunton today (Thursday, February 28th).

Scores of floral tributes were laid on The Esplanade in the days after the tragedy and hundreds of people joined Dylan’s family for a Burnham memorial service in his memory.
