Burnham-On-Sea Coastguards were called out on Saturday afternoon (May 26th) to hekp a lady who had suffered a suspected broken ankle in a fall.
The team was called to Brean Down at 2.25pm, as pictured here, following a call for help.
A spokesman said: “The Team was tasked to help a lady who had possibly broken her ankle after slipping while out for a walk with her daughter on Brean Down.”
“As they had descended the Down, one of the ladies had slipped and fallen, injuring her ankle.”
“When we arrived on scene her ankle had started to swell, and we administered some first aid and secured her ankle. Although she was in pain she was in good spirits.”
“Weston-super-Mare Coastguards arrived on scene and placed their vehicle at the bottom of the slope.”
Once we had stabilised her foot we decided the best option was to carry her via stretcher down the fairly steep slope to the awaiting Weston Coastguard truck.”
“With great team working, the lady was helped into the truck and whisked off to the National Trust Cafe at the base of the Down where an Ambulance had arrived. She put a brave face on what was a painful injury but never stopped smiling.”
