High-kicking kung fu enthusiasts head to Berrow

-

Dozens of high-kicking kung fu enthusiasts from across the UK descended on Berrow for a local club’s competition this week.

Fei Lung Kwan Kung Fu society held its first grading competition at Berrow School, where all classes of the Fei Lung Kwan participated.

“It was the largest grading in the history of the Fei Lung Kwan, attended by around 80 people,” the club’s Patrick Barber told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“36 students took the grading, all of whom passed. Students came from across the country, including Bucks, Berks and Middlesex.”

There were four distinction passes, three of whom were from the Berrow class. They included Harrison Barber, who achieved the highest-ever score for a junior grading of 94.6%, Chloe Reynolds and Nicole Mason.

The event also saw the youngest-ever student take a grading – Faith Hooper, 5, passed her grading with an incredible score of 76.9%.

The event was also attended by the Founder of the Fei Lung Kwan Kung, Rex Jones, Master Patrick Barber, Chief Instructors Judy Jones and Ben Peel, and Black Sashes Kain Walton, Hardev Seehra and Gordon Joyce.

After the grading, all the attendees enjoyed a trip to Berrow beach for the society’s annual picnic.
