Two men were shocked to discover an old shotgun while magnet fishing in East Huntspill, near Burnham-On-Sea, this week.
Rob Lawrence and Joe Kilduff were searching the Cripps River on Wednesday (May 30th) when they came across the item near a bridge over the waterway at Long Moor Drove.
Joe Kilduff said that when Rob pulled out the gun he thought that he was joking because they have always said that it’s something they wanted to find.
He added that the gun looks “pretty old” but they called in the Police as a precaution.
Police safely removed the rifle from the scene for further investigation during the day and believe it dates back to the early 1900s.
