Burnham-On-Sea’s rescue hovercraft and Coastguard teams were called to Weston on Sunday afternoon (June 27th) to search for a missing child.
In their second call-out to the resort in 24 hours, crewmembers from BARB and the Coastguard were alerted at 3.50pm to scour the beach for an 11 year-old girl.
BARB’s Light of Elizabeth hovercraft – with two Weston Coastguards onboard – was tasked with searching the tideline and mudflats.
“There was increasing concern for the girl, who had been missing for some time. Fortunately, she was found safe and well, much to the relief of her family,” Burnham Coastguard Ian Jefferies told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
On Saturday, the same teams had been called to Uphill to rescue nine beachgoers from the mudflats, as reported here.
