Over 280 Scouts, Beavers, Cubs and Explorers from across the district gathered on Burnham-On-Sea beach on Tuesday evening (June 29th) to take part in a mass sandcastle building competition.

The youngsters from Burnham, Highbridge, Cheddar, Bridgwater, Cannington, Wedmore, North Petherton, Bridgwater, Weare and Huntspill took part in the contest next to the town’s jetty.

This year, the entries had a World Cup theme with plenty of flags, stadiums and footballs being crafted in the sand. One entry even included an aeroplane for the returning England team!

Co-organiser Lorna Walker told Burnham-On-Sea.com she was delighted at how the event had gone. She added: “The event is a wonderful opportunity for groups from across the district to come together. We’ve had a great evening and the sunny weather made perfect conditions for sandcastle building!”
