A team from Burnham-On-Sea’s Gemini Tae Kwon-Do Club have scooped nine medals at a regional competition.

Gemini Tae-Kwon-Do club, who train at King Alfred School, competed in junior and adult classes at this weekend’s Southern Championships.

Max Bradley, 11, a pupil at King Alfred School in Highbridge, fought through four rounds against boys in a higher grade than him before winning his final fight 7:3 and being awarded a gold medal.

The victory makes him the Midlands’ Champion and the South West of England Champion.

Max told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “I’m really excited to have won another competition. It’s taken me a long time but it has been worth it.”

There were over 500 students taking part in many categories at the event, which was held in Devon.

Gemini Tae-Kwon-Do’s senior club instructor, Jane Lambert, said: “We entered ten students in patterns, sparring and tag-team competitions.”

“I was very pleased with how our students all performed. They had all been so focused before the event and trained so hard – it is great that the hard work paid off.”

“We had two students competing for the first time – both of whom came away with medals. We have been providing the highest quality tuition for the whole family since 1994 and seeing them achieve their goals is so rewarding.”

“It isn’t all about competitions and medals though, whether your goals are to develop your self confidence, improve your self defence skills, personal development, fitness, flexibility or to earn your Black Belt, Gemini Tae Kwon-Do will take you there.”

The winners also included Beverley Milner-Simonds, Sparring, Bronze plus a Tag Team, Silver.

Gemini Tae-Kwon-Do trains every Tuesday and Thursday at King Alfred School.
