Tributes have been paid to a former Mayor of Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge who has died this week, aged 82.
Christine Booth was a former town and district councillor and was Mayor in the late 1970s.
Mrs Booth and husband Ron came to the area when they moved into Highbridge from Yorkshire. They later emigrated in 1990 to Australia, where Christine sadly passed away last Sunday.
Fellow former councillor Rosemarie Parsons, who was a neighbour of the family when they lived in Highbridge, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Both she and Ron were close friends whom I have kept in touch with over the years. It is very sad to hear Christine has passed away.”
Cllr Neville Jones added: “I remember Christine Booth well – she was a dedicated and hard working councillor who stood up for Highbridge.”
Earlier this year, another former Mayor, Brenda Brown, passed away, as we reported here.
