A new report out this week shows the attendance levels of Burnham-On-Sea councillors at district council meetings over the past year.
The publication of the report comes just days after the expense claims of local councillors were published, as reported here, and demonstrates why some members have higher travel claims than others.
Leading the attendance of local councillors is Brent Knoll’s Bob Filmer, who is a member of seven committees and also Chairman of the Development Control Committee. He attended 88 meetings during the year, explaining why his travel expenses were the highest of any local councillor.
Cllr Dennis Davey attended 51 meetings, Cllr Neville Jones attended 46, Cllr Arthur Thorogood (37), Mike Mansfield (33), Eric Gill (32), Cllr Joe Leach (15), Cllr Peter Burridge-Clayton (12), John Laband (10) and Cllr Danny Titcombe (10).
Cllr Filmer told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The attendance report does show why some busy councillors, who are members of several committees, have higher travel expenses claims than others.”
