-

Police have confirmed that a 46 year-old man has died after a two-car collision in the centre of Highbridge last night (Sunday).

Church Street was shut to all traffic for several hours after the vehicles collided at 8.20pm near the junction of Grange Avenue.

Police have today named the man as Patrick Barr, known to his friends as ‘Paddy’, who lived locally.

“The incident involved two vehicles – a Honda Civic and a Volvo V70 – and occurred at around 8.20pm in Church Street.”

“The driver of the Honda, a 46-year-old man, sadly died at the scene,” a police spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

They have appealed for witnesses to the incident to come forward.

“Anyone with any information on this incident is asked to contact the police collision investigation unit on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111,” added the spokesman.

Traffic was diverted along alternative routes while crews were at the scene in Church Street, as pictured.
