Two arrested as Highbridge drugs factory uncovered

-

Police have arrested two people after uncovering a drugs factory in the centre of Highbridge today (Tuesday, July 13th).

These were the scenes as drug-making equipment worth thousands of pounds was seized when officers executed a search warrant at a property in Market Street.

Two separate hydroponics systems for growing cannabis were seized, together with a quantity of herbal cannabis.

Two men, aged 20 and 22, were arrested and the value of the hydroponics equipment was estimated by police to be £3,000.

The kit will be destroyed, along with a knuckle duster and a dagger which were also recovered at the premises.

One of the males was charged with possession of cannabis and was bailed to Sedgemoor Magistrates Court to appear on 3rd August, while the other was cautioned for the same offence.

Highbridge police officer PC Ryan Dinham told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “This sort of seizure hurts drug dealers and helps to reinforce the message that the community of Highbridge supported by their local policing team will not tolerate drug dealing.”

“We are always grateful for information received from our community and will act in a positive manner whenever possible.”

It followed an earlier drugs raid on a flat in Church Street, Highbridge last Friday when a 51 year old male was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis.
