The Commanding Officer of Burnham-On-Sea’s Sea Cadets has been presented with the 3rd Clasp to his Cadet Forces Medal.
The medal is presented after a minimum of 12 years good service as an adult, with the clasps representing each additional six year period.
Having joined the Sea Cadets in 1976, Lieutenant (SCC) Bob Silverthorne RNR worked his way through the cadet ranks to become an instructor and has held many posts at Unit, Area and National levels and maintains an active role as a staff development trainer as well as running the successful local unit.
The presentation was made by the District Officer, Lieutenant Commander (SCC) Steve Coles RNR, and a good number of parents turned up in support.
Any young people aged between 10-18 that are interested in becoming part of the unit should contact the group via kim84@tiscali.co.uk or feel free to call in on a Monday or Thursday evening between 7pm and 9.30pm.
