Glastonbury Festival’s Michael Eavis to switch on Burnham Xmas lights

-

Glastonbury Festival founder Michael Eavis is to switch on Burnham-On-Sea’s Christmas lights next month during a day of festive entertainment.

Burnham Chamber of Trade, which is overseeing the switch-on, said it is delighted that Mr Eavis, who is regular visitor to Burnham and a well known face across the country, will be lighting up the town centre on Saturday November 21st.

The Christmas lights switch-on will be held during a day of free festive entertainment outside the Victoria Hotel in Burnham’s Victoria Street.

An outdoor food and craft gift market will be held along Victoria Street with local choirs and community groups performing festive music throughout the day.

There will also be a visit by Father Christmas and other entertainment on display, including real reindeer. The big lights switch-on itself will be held at 4.45pm.

“It promises to be a superb event to mark the official start of Burnham’s Christmas season and we are delighted to have Michael lined up to light up our town centre and support local businesses,” said a Chamber spokesman.

The popular BOS Factor talent competition, open to local performers of all ages, will also be held during the day. More details shortly
