A mother of four from Burnham-On-Sea is celebrating this week after being crowned ‘South West Carer Of The Year’.
Sarah Stacey has been a foster carer with Somerset County Council for four years and in that time has looked after 21 children alongside her own four.
Sarah was nominated for the award by social worker Rocio Cantero to recognise her hard work and proactive approach to foster care.
Rocio told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Sarah’s hard work, flexibility and passion for achieving the children’s best interest is recognised and really appreciated.”
“Her ability to set boundaries is excellent and she strongly feels that every child is unique and adapts to discipline methods in a way that the children don’t perceive as unfair, which is not always easy!”
As well as being a busy mum and foster carer Sarah also sits on the North Somerset Adoption Panel and is working towards a NVQ in Child Care.
Sarah was presented with her award and prizes at her home in Burnham this week, including £100 worth of vouchers for the Michael Caine Restaurant in Exeter.
Sarah will go up against other regional entries at the National Carer of the Year awards at the Warldolf Hotel in London in September.
The South West Carer Of The Year competition was organised by Reed Social Care.
