Gardeners in the Burnham-On-Sea area who want to find out more about attracting butterflies are being invited to a Brent Knoll garden centre this week as it marks Save Our Butterflies Week.
To link in with the nationwide event, which runs from Saturday July 24th until Sunday August 1st, Sanders Garden World is creating displays and offering free advice on plants that appeal to butterflies.
General Manager Peter Burks told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Butterfly Conservation’s Save Our Butterflies Week represents seven days devoted to celebrating British butterflies and promoting ways to stop their decline.”
“We’re delighted to be helping raise awareness for the organisation. Butterflies are very important to gardeners because they feed on flower nectar and as they do, they transfer pollen on their bodies and legs from one plant to another.”
During the week, visitors to the garden centre will be able chat to staff about attracting butterflies into their gardens.
People will also be able to learn about plants that will help encourage butterflies, such as Buddleia davidii. The garden centre will also be giving away 350 guides to British butterflies free of charge, while stocks last. More details about Save Our Butterflies Week are available here on the Butterfly Conservation website.
