Hairdressing students show they’re a cut above the rest!

Burnham and Highbridge’s Mayor and Mayoress were among the VIP judges at a hairdressing competition held on Tuesday afternoon (July 27th).

Michael and Maria Clarke visited the L&F Academy in Church Street to offer their support and encouragement to the business, which is a leading hairdressing training provider.

The Mayor and Mayoress looked around the academy’s facilities and met several students who are currently working in an apprenticeship position to achieve level 2 hairdressing qualifications.

The first year group of eight students, who are being taught by Tamsin Roylance, one of the academy’s dedicated and experienced educators, were taking part in an end-of-term competition.

The Mayor and Mayoress were joined by Highbridge County Councillor John Woodman, Strode College’s Angie Cinicola and Crescent Hair Salon’s Deborah Heals to judge the style competition.

First place was awarded to Elizabeth Crowsley for her outstanding hair presentation inspired by the French Riviera, while second and third went to Jill Woolley and Jade Marsh for their fairytale and high-fashion themed creations.

L&F is currently recruiting school leavers who are looking to acquire an apprenticeship within the industry. For more information regarding training and applications, or to be a model at the academy, contact Fran Deeley on 765843.
