Burnham Lions Club seeks new volunteers at ‘coffee and chat’ morning

-

Burnham-On-Sea Lions Club are holding an open ‘coffee and chat’ session at a cafe in the town centre this Sunday (November 1st) where residents can find out more about how they can get involved.

The Lions will be holding the event at BOS Cafe in the High Street between 10am and 12pm on Sunday to find new members.

“We are a club made up of male and female members from different age groups and backgrounds. We take part in many community ventures, all of which is done on a voluntary basis,” said spokeswoman Claire Oliver.

“These include things like running stalls at fetes and open days, and marshalling for local events like triathlons and marathons.”

“Historically we have been associated with Highbridge and Burnham Carnival and this year is no different – we will be out in force collecting. The money we raise goes to local good causes and funds outings/events for the deserving.”

She added: “Christmas is our busiest time as we are involved in the Christmas lights switch-on with the Chamber of Trade and collecting at Asda and Tesco. We have also been involved in helping to raise funds for the ice rink that BEST have organised by marshalling events for them.”

“We are looking for new members in order that we can continue to do the good work that we are known for in the community.”

“If you have a few hours a month to spare to do something good for your local community then please get in touch or come along to our coffee and chat session in BOS Cafe in Burnham High Street on 1st November between 10 and 12 and have a coffee and meet some of us.”
