New food businesses in Brean have five star appeal!

-

Staff at two food businesses in Brean are celebrating this week after being awarded a maximum five stars for their food hygiene practices.

Subway and The Big Deal in South Road have been praised in the latest survey by the district council’s Food Safety Team.

Both businesses are run by the House family, who also oversee Brean Leisure Park.

“The environmental health officer visited the latest additions to Brean’s bustling holiday strip and awarded the highest accolade achievable for restaurants and eateries, with both venues receiving the maximum five stars for hygiene and operational procedures,” spokeswoman Lesley Royal told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

Under the ‘Somerset Food Scores’ scheme, every food premises in the district gets inspected on a regular basis and the two new Burnham businesses, which only opened earlier this year, have got full marks.

‘Somerset Food Scores’ is not a competition, nor an award scheme, but a system that allows customers to see how their school, hospital, favourite sandwich bar or restaurant complies with food hygiene regulations.
