Burnham-On-Sea football fans celebrate England reaching World Cup quarter final

-

Football fans in Burnham-On-Sea celebrated England reaching the quarter-finals of the World Cup on Tuesday night (July 3rd).

Fans had crowded into pubs in the town centre to watch England’s new generation of players end the World Cup penalty jinx by knocking out Colombia on spot kicks 4-3 after the game itself finished 1-1.

Celebrations saw cheering fans spill into the streets outside The Railway, Victoria Hotel and Pier Tavern and Vinnies Wine Bar on the seafront.

England’s first ever World Cup shootout victory sets up a quarter-final match with Sweden this Saturday at 3pm.

Pubs and clubs in the town have been given a summer boost with all reporting brisk trade thanks to England’s World Cup progress and the continuing hot weather.
