Burnham-On-Sea’s beach should be looking a lot cleaner this week after this community-spirited group carried out a beach clean on Wednesday (August 11th).
The team of volunteers from The Huntspill Project, who have learning difficulties, filled over a dozen bin bags with rubbish found along the sands between the Low Lighthouse and Esplanade.
Leader Nigel Maddocks told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We collected several sackfuls of rubbish over several hours – the beach should be a lot tidier now.”
The event was run as part of the ‘The Big Tidy Up’, which is run by Keep Britain Tidy, a national environmental charity. It has been dubbed England’s biggest ever litter pick.
