Car wash proposals in Burnham town centre approved

-

Proposals to convert this car park in Burnham-On-Sea into a car washing centre have been approved by district council planners.

They have given a green light to the owners of the land, which is at the rear of Morrisons supermarket just off Pier Street, to transform it into a new car valeting business – subject to several conditions being met.

Sedgemoor District Council’s development control committee requested that the facility will only be open for business between 9am and 5.30pm Monday to Friday and 9.30am and 1.30pm on Saturdays in order “to protect nearby residential properties from undue noise and disturbance”.

The council has also requested that a proposed door to the east of the site must be a self-closing type, again to protect nearby residents.

The council originally turned down the proposals earlier this year when the committee decided “the proposed development would result in an unacceptable level of noise and disturbance which would be detrimental to the amenity enjoyed by neighbouring residents.”
