Holiday Resort Unity and eleven other parks are currently piloting the new scheme, called ‘Sitewatch’, which allows its park managers, security team and wardens to issue a series of colour-coded notices – Green, Amber and Red – that warn guests if they are displaying anti-social or unacceptable behaviour. It warns them of the consequences and threatens them with being asked to leave.
Details of any guest who is asked to leave are being shared with the other 11 holiday parks in Brean who have joined the scheme to ensure that troublesome guests are not pushed between parks.
Andy Kerslake, security co-ordinator at Holiday Resort Unity, came up with the idea and told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Historically, these types of problems have been dealt with on an individual park basis.”
“On the rare occasions that we experience these type of problems – such as excessive noise late at night, disruptive or unsupervised children causing a nuisance or dogs barking – they can all spoil your holiday experience.”
He added: “The scheme allows us to deal with the problem without bothering or tying up valuable police resources. The feedback from our customers has been extremely positive and they clearly welcome the process.”
Several posters promoting the scheme, like the one pictured here, are being displayed around the parks, who have also incorporated it into their booking processes so that guests understand the rules when they arrive.
Burnham Police Inspector Roger Tolley told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “This scheme has the potential to be a really effective tool in improving the quality and enjoyment of holidaymakers by quickly identifying and challenging the small minority of disrespectful and disruptive visitors to our area.”
