New litter bins aim to boost recycling rates in Burnham-On-Sea

-

New combined litter and recycling bins are being installed in Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge to encourage recycling.

Sedgemoor District Council is introducing the new-look bins, which have separate compartments for general waste, paper, cans and plastics.

They are located at Apex Park in Highbridge, plus Crosses Penn and The Esplanade in Burnham.

“The bins are easy-to-use, conveniently located recycling facilities, in popular public locations to help Sedgemoor achieve a higher recycling rate,” council spokeswoman Claire Faun told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“The bins provide residents and visitors with the opportunity to separate different types of waste/litter materials for recycling, something which is easy to do, and will increase the high level of recycling already being achieved by residents at home, as part of their weekly kerb-side recycling service.”
