Air ambulance benefits from Highbridge charity bike ride

-

A convoy of bikers has raised funds for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance by taking part in a ride-out from Highbridge.

Somerset Motorcycle Group’s annual Teddy Bear Run saw over 20 bikers take to the road to raise cash for the charity.

“Everyone taking part had at least one teddy bear strapped to their bike before we set off from the Bristol Bridge Inn,” said organiser Norman Templeman.

After leaving Highbridge, the group travelled up through Cheddar Gorge and down through Burrington Coombe to the picnic area at Chew Valley Lake. After a scenic break for lunch, the convoy roared back to the Bristol Bridge Inn.

“We wish to thank the staff at The Bristol Bridge Inn for getting up early and opening the pub to us, and for giving the proceeds from the sales of tea and coffee to our charity. We also thank Asda for donating several cuddly toys and a barbecue for out raffle. Overall, we raised just over £120 on the day,” added Norman.
