A patriotic evening of music and remembrance is set to be held at St Bridget’s Church in Brean when it hosts a special VE Day Celebration Concert.
The commemorative event on Saturday 10th May at 7.30pm marks the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day, featuring performances by acclaimed concert pianist Richard Lennox and popular local vocalist Francesca Bowkett.
Francesca says: “We’d love for you to come and celebrate this historic occasion with us. I’m thrilled to be performing once again alongside the incredibly talented Richard Lennox.”
“The evening will be filled with wartime songs, poignant readings, and poems – and we’re even including a bit of audience participation!”
The evening promises a nostalgic and moving programme, capturing the spirit of the wartime era.
Tickets are £10, which includes refreshments, and are available now from Burnham Tourist Information Centre or The Pet Shop, 24 High Street, Burnham-on-Sea.
Richard Lennox is an esteemed professional pianist and organist whose distinguished career includes performances at The Royal Albert Hall, Wells Cathedral and Bristol Cathedral. Most notably, he played the organ at The King’s Coronation Concert.
Francesca Bowkett has taken leading roles in opera and choral performances around the county and further afield. She is well-known for her Prom concerts including 15 years as Finale Soloist at the Bristol Beacon.
