One of Burnham-On-Sea’s oldest residents has celebrated her 105th birthday this week with a special celebration.

Dorothy, a resident at Beaufort House residential care home, marked the incredible milestone with a celebration attended by local nursery children.

A spokeswoman at Beaufort House says: “She is such a wonderful lady, and it was a joy to celebrate this incredible milestone with her.”

“Dorothy spent a lovely day with visiting family and especially enjoyed when the children from Footprint Nursery came along to play.”

“Everyone joined in to sing Happy Birthday, including the children. We played games and shared snacks and drinks with the residents, creating some truly special memories.”

When asked about the secret to long life on reaching 105, Dorothy simply said: “I’ve had a very good and busy life and a loving family to thank.”

The care home’s residents also prepared Easter bags for the children, each with a homemade card, a chocolate bunny, and a couple of Easter eggs. “The children were just as excited as the residents while handing them out,” added the spokeswoman.

Another Burnham-On-Sea resident at a different local care home is 107 years old and is currently the town’s oldest resident.
