A family was helped on Burnham-On-Sea beach after their elderly dog collapsed in pain following an accident on Bank Holiday Monday.
A BARB Search and Rescue spokesperson says: “It was a busy start to Bank Holiday Monday for several BARB volunteers who were called out to help a beach walker whose elderly dog had collapsed on Burnham beach near the low lighthouse.”
“After liaising with the Coastguard, a BARB 4×4 truck with two crew onboard was driven along the beach to meet the walker and her family, where Dexter, a 13 year-old labrador, was in a lot of pain after an accident.”
“The family was helped in moving Dexter into our truck for a short drive off the beach where he was taken away by the family to a vet for treatment.”
“The family, who live locally, were very grateful for BARB’s help. We wish Dexter a speedy recovery.”
