Wales & West Utilities apologises for ongoing closure of road between Wedmore and Cheddar

-

Wales & West Utilities has apologised to motorists for the ongoing closure of the Cheddar Moor Road (B3151) between Wedmore and Cheddar.

The work had been due to finish by March 5th but is ongoing and is scheduled to finish by April 11th.

One resident told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The road has been closed for 6 weeks already. The diversion route is chaotic, there have been accidents, and there are queues up to a mile long.”

A Wales & West Utilities spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Following a gas leak on our pipe on Cheddar Moor Road, we took the decision to replace the section of the pipe to minimise the risk of further leaks occurring in that area in future.”

“To keep the local community, road users and our colleagues safe while we work, it was agreed with the local council to close Cheddar Road. A diversion route is in place and is clearly signposted.”

“Work to replace the pipe is progressing as planned and barring any unforeseen circumstances, we expect to complete our work and reopen the road by 11th April.”

“We’re sorry for the inconvenience the road closure is causing and would like to assure people that we are doing all that we can to complete the work as quickly as possible.”

“If anyone has any queries about our work then our Customer Service Team is ready to take your call. You can contact them on freephone 0800 912 2999 or email at enquiries@wwwutilities.co.uk.”
