Burnham-On-Sea walking rugby squad to compete at summer rugby festivals

-

Burnham-On-Sea RFC Walking Rugby Squad is growing from strength to strength with two teams in place to take part in festivals this summer.

The squad meets every Wednesday evening when two games run side by side so all get to play.

“Walking rugby is a great game that’s played by men over 40 and ladies over 35. We also have four lady members and more are welcome,” says spokesman Doug Plume.

“You don’t need experience, just a willingness to have a go. There’s no upper age limit, there’s a few of us around 70.”

He adds: “The club has two teams entered for walking rugby festivals in the summer, one at Bridgwater and Albion and the other at possibly the largest festival in the country at Kingswood.”

“We welcome all along to our Wednesday evening training sessions and it would be good to see more ladies join.”

“If you’re not sure about it, you’re welcome to come along and watch. We meet at 7pm at the BASC ground in Stoddens Road, Burnham-On-Sea. You’ll soon want to join in!”
