Highbridge by-election underway today as voters choose new town councillor

Three candidates are standing in a Highbridge by-election today (Monday, December 18th) for a vacant Town Council seat.

Registered voters in the town will be heading to polling stations in the town to cast their votes in the election, with the results expected to be announced later tonight.

The candidates are Laura Chalmers (Liberal Democrats); Alistair Hendry (The Conservative Party); and Kate Pearce (Labour Party).

The election is being held to fill a vacant seat after Andy Morgan stepped down for health reasons in September.

Burnham and Highbridge Town Council currently has 17 councillors, with the one vacancy. There are eight Lib Dems, one Labour, 7 Conservatives and one Independent.
