Burnham-On-Sea’s town Christmas tree was blown over last night (Saturday) as high winds hit the area.
The 25ft tree – located at the junction of Old Station Approach and Abingdon Street – was toppled by the strong gusts mid-evening, as pictured here.
Contractors from the Town Council, which oversees the two town trees in Burnham and Highbridge, are expected to hoist it back into position.
It comes as gusty winds hit the Burnham-On-Sea area during Saturday. The Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for the stormy conditions.
The two trees in Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge have proved contentious this year after some councillors expressed concern over their cost.
