Hundreds of residents in East Huntspill have been left without internet access for almost a week after a technical problem.
Villagers in the Church Road area say their internet connections stopped working at 9.20pm last Thursday (November 30th) and only returned last night (Wednesday, December 6th) at 6pm.
One villager, Tim Amy, said many angry residents are seeking compensation for the six-day outage.
“Village life has its perks, but when something like this happens we become quite isolated as mobile reception is poor at best,” he told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
An Openreach spokesperson says: “On Friday, we received a report of cable damage to our network in East Huntspill which affected around 460 homes and businesses.”
“Our engineers are doing their best to repair the cable safely and as quickly as possible but our repair work was hampered by parked cars which we were unable to move.”
“We’d like to thank residents for their patience while we sort things out and remind everyone that if you’re affected, it’s really important to log the fault with your provider (the company you pay your bill to) wherever possible and we’ll be advised.”
