Burnham-On-Sea cake maker Dusica Roberts stars on US TV baking series

-

A talented Burnham-On-Sea cake maker is starring in a new festive baking TV show on American television this month.

Dusica Roberts, who runs Burnham’s DusiCake coffee lounge in Abingdon Street, is appearing on The Big Bake: Holiday, filmed in Canada for The Food Network.

In 2022, she appeared on a Halloween version of the cooking series.

She told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “After an amazing experience on The Big Bake first time around, we were delighted to be invited back to Canada to film a special Christmas episode. This time we knew we had to bring more skills and bigger, better ideas!”

“The theme of this show was ‘Reindeer’s Retirement’. We created a larger than life cake with dynamic elements in just five hours. It was an amazing experience!”

The series has been picked up in the UK by digital channel ITVbe and is likely to be aired soon.

Dusica adds: “We are really excited to see the show ourselves and are looking forward to it being aired in the UK soon for everyone to see.”

Dusica appears with fellow baking contestants Kerry Hemms and Verity Malinowska.

Earlier this month, we reported here that Dusica had won best in show at the prestigious Cake International Show in Birmingham with an incredible woodland fairy entry called Podrick Gump.

The Big Bake: Holiday is described by The Food Network as “a larger-than-life baking competition series with themed episodes.”

“In each episode, three professional baking teams have five hours to design, bake and decorate a grand-scale cake creation based on a particular theme.”

“These bakers need to think big and bold, blowing up their designs to gigantic proportions and thinking outside the (bakery) box.”

”In the end, the most ambitious, eye-popping and delicious cake will go home with a $10,000 prize.”
