Brent Knoll Run sees 149 runners compete in gruelling trail race

-

149 runners from across the South West took part in a gruelling race from Burnham-On-Sea to the top of Brent Knoll and back on Sunday morning (November 26th).

The popular trail race started from Burnham’s BASC Ground before the runners across the fields to the village before heading up to the trig point on the hill and then returning.

The Brent Knoll Run 2023 was won by Paul O’Mara in a fast time of 37 minutes and 58 seconds.

Winner Paul is pictured above with second placed Matthew Lusby (38:45) and third-placed Darren Stacey (40:20).

Paul said: “It was very muddy in places but is a great trail race. It was my first time running in 25 years because we moved away and I decided to enter because we are visiting the area and am pleased to have won!”

First locals home were James B (40:57) and Richard Saupe (42:07).

An organiser says: “Conditions were mudy underfoot after the recent rain and misty on top of Brent Knoll, but everyone enjoyed themselves.  Many thanks to Burnham Harriers and the team for all their help supporting the event.”
