Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge volunteers sought in new dog fouling crackdown

-

Volunteers are being sought by Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge Town Council to help with a project to tackle the problem of dog fouling in the towns.

The council is working with Litter Free Coast and Sea Somerset to launch a new campaign through November, following on from the success of last year.

The campaign aims to draw attention to the blight of dog fouling in Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge.

A spokeswoman says: “The key messages will focus on ‘no matter the size of your dog, place or time of day, always pick up’ and ‘Bag It Bin It’.”

“In a bid to tackle this problem, we are asking for volunteers to become ‘Somerset Poo Fighters’ and to work in collaboration with the council and Litter Free Coast to undertake  local ground stencilling and survey work.”

“We are looking for volunteers to survey part of the Esplanade in Burnham, as well as the area from Pearce Drive to Coronation Road in Highbridge.”

“If you would like to get involved with this survey work, or if you would like to tell us where dog poo is a particular problem, email info@burnham-highbridge-tc.gov.uk or litterfreesomerset@gmail.com.”
