-

These were the scenes in Burnham-On-Sea, Brean and Berrow on Bank Holiday Monday as good weather drew people into the area.

The vast majority of beachgoers followed social distancing guidelines and there were no serious safety beach incidents, said Coastguards.

Temperatures of 23°C (73.4°F) were seen in Burnham during the day. Families enjoyed the good weather on Burnham beach, as pictured here.

There were busy scenes in Berrow’s Coast Road, pictured, where at one point over 50 cars were parked along the verge due to the beach car park and nature reserve car park being closed.

Several seafront businesses served take-away food  in Burnham and were kept busy.

Among the businesses open on the seafront for take-aways were the Bay View Cafe, Vinnies with a barbecue, The Esplanade Fish Bar and The Front Parlour.

The businesses said they saw a steady flow of customers, who were keeping their social distance.

The National Trust’s car park at Brean Down was full for much of the day, along with the nearby Brean Bird Garden. There were long queues for ice creams at the bird garden, as pictured below, where people were keeping distanced.
