Brent Knoll animal centre manager raises over £4,000 for RSPCA with head shave

-

The manager of Brent Knoll’s RSPCA animal centre has raised over £4,000 this week by holding an online head shave in aid of the charity.

Nikki Tutton held the fundraising head shave online and raised an impressive total of £4,075 thanks to generous online donations.

Nikki told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Something that started out as a joke because I ran out of heating oil and couldn’t wash my hair one morning turned into this!”

“My initial £1,000 target took just two days to reach and when I realised how much support we needed and how the public were so ready to help it blew me away.”

She adds: “Over the last couple of weeks it has hit home just how much this virus is going to affect the work we do and when we are 100% reliant on donations, our Animal Centre and its rescue work is seriously at risk from being unable to provide the help animals need.”

“We have already had to reduce the staffing team by more than half and preserving facilities by taking in animals from emergency situations only via the RSPCA Inspectorate.”

“Whilst we are unable to re-home any of our rescued animals, our ‘beds’ must only be occupied by those animals whose basic needs cannot be met by any other means.”

“I intend to keep reaching out to our local community to continue their amazing generosity. It is the routine bills we must pay that causes the most financial concern and any contribution from the cost of a pint of milk, a chocolate bar, a week’ pocket money from all our animal loving friends could be the difference we need.”
