A Burnham-On-Sea company offering professional sports coaching to primary schools across the region has launched daily online fitness videos to help keep families active during the Coronavirus lockdown.
Emily Rossiter of Sporting World Sport Services told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “With schools being closed and children at home we wanted to provide something so they can stay active and have some fun.”
“We are so enthusiastic and love our job, so it’s nice while we are not able to go into schools to be able to provide some fun things for children to do at home.”
“Parents can join in with them too. The activities are also being used in our schools for their home learning programme.”
“Each week day we post a different game/exercise, which you can do that day, or come back to another time!”
“We have coaches setting challenges each week, along with some great links to resources such as yoga and dance. This week there are some Easter themed activities.”
“These can all be done inside, but if you have an outdoor space it’s great to get out in the fresh air and sunshine to do them. We try to ensure that our activities are using bits you can find around the house so that it’s fully inclusive.”
“It’s important, especially during these times where we are staying at home, to keep active. It helps children with their growth and development but is also good for their mental health and wellbeing and reduces stress.”
“So far we have had great feedback, we have reached over 7,000 people, and lots of videos and photos of children taking part in the activities.”
“It’s so good to see children wanting to challenge themselves and to enjoy keeping fit and healthy.”
“It’s great to see so many people from the community offering their skills for everyone to do at home and the Joe Wicks Pe sessions each morning are fantastic!”
“People can access the activities and videos on our website on the blog page, and on our Facebook page.”
