A Burnham-On-Sea man has presented a huge £36,862 to the Cystic Fibrosis Trust following a series of fundraising challenges.
Gary Bowden, Co-Owner of Dulhorn Farm Holiday Park near Burnham, has raised the funds over the course of this year.
Gary completed several fundraising challenges including a 60-mile Ultra Marathon Scotland in April, the 3 Peaks Challenge in July, and cycling to Paris from Bristol over four days covering around 70-75 miles each day, as we featured here.
Gary thanked everyone who has sponsored him and his team throughout their challenges. “All your kind words mean so much and really kept us going,” he told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
Adam Stafford, one of the organisers, said: “We achieved great things and that was down to team effort. I like to think we all learnt and gained something from this. We learnt about each other, our strengths and weakness.”
“We learnt that with the power of teamwork we can achieve whatever we want. We learnt about the importance of the CF Trust and what they do to help sufferers day in day out.”
“We got fitter and shed a few pounds in the process. There are so many people to thank that made it possible, the list is just too long but ultimately you are the stars of the show and you all contributed to make it what it was… epic!”
Gary said: “The reason I have been inspired by the work of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust is that Taylor, the son of my friend Adam Lane, was born with CF in 2014 and although he’s currently in good health, this has not always been the case.”
“I have learnt a huge amount about the genetic condition and the trust’s fantastic work. I am supporting them by raising vital funds, enabling them to continue their work into extending lives and hopefully, one day finding a cure.”
