Budding young chefs in Burnham battle it out in Rotary Young Chef contest

-

Budding young chefs showed off their cooking skills during Burnham-On-Sea Rotary Club’s Young Chef competition on Saturday (November 30th).

Held at King Alfred School Academy in Highbridge, the youngsters were set the challenge of preparing and presenting a three-course meal in two hours within a budget of £20.

The standard was excellent and all the competitors were complimented on the standards reached and the variety of dishes on display by the judges.

The winner was Katie Bartlett, above, whose winning menu featured smoked salmon roulade, chicken goujons with vegetable rice and a dipping sauce, followed by lemon cream and ginger tart. Runners-up were Sophie Bell and Korben Noble.

Principal Nathan Jenkins said: “We were very excited to see students battling it out and showing off their culinary skills.”
