Gas supplier Wales and West Utilities has this week been fined £4,363.50 for illegally going ahead with unauthorised roadworks in Burnham-On-Sea at the height of the tourist season.
The company has pleaded guilty to breaching the Roads and Street Works Act 1991 with the roadworks in Burnham’s Berrow Road during the holiday period on Thursday August 22nd.
The firm was charged with executing street works on the maintainable highway in contravention of a direction on timing given by the street authority.
Wales and West has received a £3,000 fine and been ordered to pay a £181 victim surcharge and £1,182.50 costs.
