The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for heavy rain across the Burnham-On-Sea area today (Thursday).
It says there is a chance that prolonged rain through the day could create difficult driving conditions due to surface water and potential flooding.
“Periods of rain are expected to become widespread, persistent and locally heavy across parts of England through Thursday,” says a Met Office spokesman.
“Rainfall totals of 15-25 mm are likely widely with the potential for some spots to see 40-60 mm. Rain will ease from the west during Thursday afternoon and evening.”
The Met Office adds that sleet and hill snow is likely to fall in parts of Somerset, leading to local accumulations of a few centimetres.
